About this newsletter

For the last four years, Green Collective has made publicly available data regarding the Irish grid more accessible and engaging via the Irish Energy Bot. Because Twitter/X is no longer a platform where we can continue to grow and reach the right people, we're announcing a new way to connect with you: our newsletter and membership programme.

Green Collective started out tracking just wind generation before adding pumped storage, batteries, biomass, hydro, and solar. Today, we track all generation at the plant-level and are well on our way to becoming the go-to source for Irish power sector data:

  • our data is trusted by Wind Energy Ireland, the Irish Solar Energy Association, Ember, and others
  • our data have also been quoted in many publications both traditional and online, national and local
  • we have some exciting efforts in the works, such as publishing our own dataset covering historical Irish generation at a fine-grained level

Currents is free but you have the option to support us and our public-facing work by becoming a member. This is entirely optional and while very much appreciated (and it really will help ensure we can continue doing this work), not required. In whatever way works for you (you're grand!), we hope you will join us.
